Shopify's Bundles app has a 2.7-star rating. Here's exactly why.

If you sell bundles on Shopify, you've probably already run into Shopify's own native Bundles app. It's free, it's built in, and on paper it should be the obvious choice. In practice, it sits at roughly 2.7 stars across 553 reviews — one of the worst-rated apps of its size on the entire platform.

That's not vague dissatisfaction. It's a short list of specific, repeated, genuinely fixable problems. Here's what they actually are.

The stock number lies to you

This is the big one, and it's a real financial risk, not just an annoyance. Shopify's native app calculates a bundle's available stock by adding up the component stock across every location you have — not the one that's actually going to fulfill the order.

Say a bundle's component is sitting at 5 units in your Manchester warehouse and 0 units everywhere else. Shopify's own app will show the bundle as "available: 5" no matter which location a customer's order actually routes to — including locations where the true number is zero. That's a straight path to selling something you can't fulfill.

Sheafly calculates it the way it should work: live, per location, as the true minimum across every component at that specific location. If a location can't fulfill it, the number says so — not a company-wide total standing in for a local reality.

Adding bundles one at a time, forever

Shopify's native app has no bulk handling whatsoever. If you've got an existing catalog and want to turn twenty, fifty, or two hundred products into bundles, you're doing it one at a time, by hand, through the same form, every single time.

Sheafly lets you upload a CSV and convert an existing catalog into bundles in one pass — the kind of batch operation most Shopify apps treat as table stakes, and this one simply doesn't have.

Two small bugs that shouldn't exist

Beyond the two big structural issues, a couple of smaller but genuinely disruptive bugs turn up repeatedly in reviews:

Neither of these is complicated to fix properly. They just needed someone to actually read what merchants were saying and build around it, rather than around a feature checklist.

What we built instead

Sheafly is built on Shopify's own native bundle mechanism, so it works with bundles you've already created using Shopify's Bundles app — no migration, nothing to redo, nothing to lose. It fixes the three things above: real per-location stock instead of a misleading company-wide sum, bulk CSV import instead of one-by-one setup, and a bundle-creation form built correctly from day one.

Sheafly fixes the overselling risk, the missing bulk import, and the small bugs in Shopify's own Bundles app — built directly from what merchants said was actually broken.
